This postgraduate program in Advanced Emergency and Intensive Care prepares registered nurses to take on specialized roles in Advanced Nursing Practice in Emergency and Intensive Care Departments. Given the ever-increasing needs but also the complexity of the needed treatment for the critically ill patients, the rising cost of health care and the higher expectations of the general public from the health care system, the ultimate goal of this postgraduate program is to upgrade the quality and safety of the health care services provided in the Emergency Departments and Intensive Care Units. The program is designed to provide nurses with ample opportunity to manage urgent and complex conditions in the Emergency Departments and Intensive Care Units autonomously. It will also help them develop a high level of knowledge and skills in practical examination and therapeutic use of pharmacologic agents as well as implement nursing care plans. In addition, postgraduate students will be provided with training in evidence-based clinical practice, effective management and communication, interdisciplinary collaboration and conducting research.
