Team

Dr. Paraskevas Nikolaou is a Lecturer in Transportation Engineering at the Cyprus University of Technology and Head of the Transportation Engineering Lab. His work lies at the intersection of transport system performance, road safety, and resilience, with a focus on developing data-driven methods and practical tools that support evidence-based mobility planning.

He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Cyprus, where he specialized in the development of spatio-temporal explanatory models to analyze and predict transport behavior. His academic journey includes an M.Sc. in Transportation Engineering, focused on global and regional road safety determinants, and a Diploma in Rural and Surveying Engineering with a concentration in transport systems.

Dr. Nikolaou leads research activities that span intelligent mobility, public transport optimization, shared mobility systems, and transport infrastructure planning, with a strong emphasis on safety and system resilience. His approach blends methodological rigor with applied relevance, often working closely with public authorities and transport operators to co-develop practical solutions for urban and regional mobility challenges.

He has contributed to major EU-funded projects. In Cyprus, he supports national and municipal transport initiatives through applied research, technical reports, and policy guidance.

As an educator, Dr. Nikolaou teaches undergraduate courses in Highway Engineering I & II, Transportation Planning. He is committed to mentoring the next generation of engineers, equipping students with the analytical skills and critical thinking needed to shape the future of transportation.
