eCREST Cyprus

Project duration: January 2025 – December 2025 (ongoing)

The eCREST Cyprus project is the Cypriot adaptation of the online educational tool eCREST (electronic Clinical Reasoning Educational Simulation Tool), originally developed by researchers at UCL to strengthen clinical reasoning skills among healthcare students and professionals. The tool uses simulated patients in a digital environment and has already been implemented in medical schools in the UK and other countries.

eCREST Cyprus is currently being used to train healthcare students and professionals in Cyprus. Within the framework of the project, the BSiH Lab collaborates with academics from the Department of Psychology at the University of Cyprus and the Medical School at the University of Nicosia.

The main objectives of the project are:

  • To conduct high-quality research on visual attention and diagnostic decision-making in healthcare students and professionals (Medicine and Nursing).
  • To evaluate the impact of eCREST Cyprus training on clinical reasoning skills by comparing visual attention patterns before and after training.
  • To adapt the tool for use with Nursing students in Cyprus, aiming to strengthen their clinical education.

The project involved Dr. Athina Manoli (postdoctoral researcher) under the supervision of Dr. Angelos Kassianos.
