Doctoral Programmes

Doctoral program’s purpose and objectives:

Since 2007, the Department of Civil Engineering and Geomatics has been able to pursue doctoral studies in areas that fall within the research interests and / or fields of the Department: Civil Engineering & Geomatics/Geo-Informatics.

Doctoral Studies aim at producing high-level original scientific research on one hand and on creating scientists capable of contributing to the advancement of science, education and applications.

The aim of the PhD Program is to prepare PhD candidates who will have the capacity for independent research and independent promotion of science in the areas of knowledge covered by the Department. This goal is fulfilled on the one hand by attending advanced courses and seminars that will add depth and the required breadth to the scientific background of the candidates. On the other hand, a doctoral dissertation thesis is required which should be an original contribution to science and be accompanied by publications in international scientific journals or peer-reviewed conferences. Graduates of the doctoral program are intended to staff the research, business and academic potential of Cyprus and abroad.

The PhD program is both for the Department and for the Cyprus University of Technology as a whole, a source of academic prestige and international recognition and contributes to the upgrading of research production, with a focus on the publication of scientific research in the field. At the same time, with the creation of a dynamic research community at the Cyprus University of Technology, the Department's Doctoral Program aims to raise the level of scientific research in Cyprus and enhance public debate on cutting-edge issues related to civil engineering and geomatics with arguments and scientific breakthrough analysis.
