As metaverses operate in real-time their wide adoption is expected to create digital public spaces for interaction in which the already possible online interactions are intensified and blended with the physical world as never before.

 

The extensive adoption of metaverses will possibly lead to increased screen time and bandwidth consumption. As a result, users will be creating exponentially more data as they engage in metaverse environments, for work, play and other activities. Data arising using metaverses can contribute to value creation. This project will focus on how and which data could be gathered, what are the boundaries of relevant data management practices arises and what data management policies will be appropriate and ethical, whether and to what extent such data could be monetized while ensuring responsible data use.

 

Funding:

Funding is available by the AGORA MSCA project for three years (subject to mobility requirement*). The salary includes a living, mobility, and family allowance (if applicable), in accordance with the MSCA regulations of the European Union for Doctoral Researchers.

While metaverse technologies are expected to radically transform the way businesses interact with their customers, the expansion to the metaverse imposes changes in the strategy, operations and business models of SMEs. This project will focus on SMEs and examine how metaverse-related adoption decisions unfold, in light of their resource constraints and their impact in shaping SMEs’ business strategy in the metaverse.

The wide use of metaverses brings to the fore an avalanche of opportunities for businesses to profit from user generated content, use and repurposing of large datasets, and additional means to reach out to existing and prospective consumers. In detail, the Metaverse can revolutionise value proposition and bring changes on how value is created and captured in enterprises. This project will explore how business models can be designed, adapted and innovated for value creation, but how the above can take place from an ethical perspective whereby responsible research and innovation (RRI) are found at the core of the business model.

Firms are increasingly called upon to address poverty, human rights violations, and natural environment issues. However, is it true that firms engaging in social and environmental actions will create a good name, competitive advantage, superior profits, and corporate sustainability? What if this applies to only some firms? In the context of this thesis, the doctoral candidate will address these and other questions by explaining how and why corporate social strategies create value for shareholders, employees, and other stakeholders.

As a result, Metaverse is expected to foster business innovation, enabling businesses to innovate at a faster pace facilitated by the opportunity for seamless experimentation and connectivity of users in the virtual space. This project will focus on how existing business innovation strategies are applicable in the Metaverse and how they can be modified to maximise innovation potential for organisations.

As metaverses operate in real-time their wide adoption is expected to create digital public spaces for interaction in which the already possible online interactions are intensified and blended with the physical world as never before.

 

The wide use of metaverses brings to the fore an avalanche of opportunities for businesses to profit from user generated content, use and repurposing of large datasets, and additional means to reach out to existing and prospective consumers. In detail, the Metaverse can revolutionise value proposition and bring changes on how value is created and captured in enterprises. This project will explore how business models can be designed, adapted and innovated for value creation, but how the above can take place from an ethical perspective whereby responsible research and innovation (RRI) are found at the core of the business model.

Funding:

Funding is available by the AGORA MSCA project for three years (subject to mobility requirement*). The salary includes a living, mobility, and family allowance (if applicable), in accordance with the MSCA regulations of the European Union for Doctoral Researchers.

What if this applies to only some firms? As a result, Metaverse is expected to foster business innovation, enabling businesses to innovate at a faster pace facilitated by the opportunity for seamless experimentation and connectivity of users in the virtual space. This project will focus on how existing business innovation strategies are applicable in the Metaverse and how they can be modified to maximise innovation potential for organisations.
