  • One (1) post in the field of “Augmentative and Alternative Communication for pupils with cerebral palsy”

Description: The research project will be focused on the process of Augmentative and Alternative Communication assessment and intervention for pupils with cerebral palsy. The aim is to contribute to the promotion of quality services provision for pupils with this disability.

Required Qualifications: Applicants must have an undergraduate degree in the field of Speech and Language Pathology as well as at least two-years clinical experience in the field of Augmentative and Alternative Communication. The candidate should be able to work in interdisciplinary teams, collaborate with partners and have good oral and written communication skills in English. The candidates should provide a cover letter that includes a short description of their research interests. The description should also cover their previous academic and research experience, their future plans as well as provide an explanation as to why s/he wants to participate in a PhD programme in the field of Augmentative and Alternative Communication.

Applicants must have an undergraduate degree in the field of Speech and Language Pathology. A master’s degree qualification and previous clinical and/or research experience are considered as an advantage.   • Two (2) places in the PhD programme: “Language and Communication Disorders in Childhood”

Description: A significant number of children present language and communication disorders during language development which are characterised by considerable heterogeneity and impact children in various ways such as poor social interaction, school failure, psychosocial problems, behaviour problems etc. In Cyprus, methods for screening and diagnosis in children with language difficulties, as well as other intervention methods currently used by speech therapists, need to be investigated. Successful candidates will conduct research in the field of Developmental Language Disorders for the population under investigation with the purpose of studying and determining appropriate mechanisms for describing language skills, among other skills, for effective diagnosis and treatment. The ultimate goal of this research programme is to develop evidence-based methods and practices as well as contributing to the relevant published literature. 

Required Qualifications: Candidates should be holders of an accredited degree in Speech Therapy/ Speech Pathology or relevant field and a post graduate degree. A detailed CV together with a brief description of the applicant's broader research interests should accompany the application.  This description should discuss previous academic or research experience, the candidate's future plans and explain the reasons why the candidate wishes to join a doctoral programme in the field of "Language and Communication Disorders in Childhood". Good command of English and adequate knowledge in computers (Microsoft Office, statistical analysis) are required. Previous clinical and research experience will be considered an advantage.
