An elective, six credit, four-hour course per week. After completing the course, students will be able to understand and use everyday expressions and basic phrases often designed to meet instant needs. Students will be able to introduce themselves and others; ask and answer questions about personal details, their home, belongings and people they know. They will also be able to interact in a simple way given that the other person talks slowly, clearly and is willing to cooperate. They will be able to share information with Spanish speakers in case they live in Spanish-speaking countries or when studying in a Spanish university. The program concentrates on a student-based teaching method and on students´ autonomous learning. The use of new technologies (Computer Assisted Language Learning) is an integral part of the learning process in order to fully develop the language and other skills. At the end of the semester students are expected to partially meet the requirements of the A1 level of the Common European Framework.
