Strategic Planning 2010-2020

Executive Summary

This present issue is the Strategic Development Planning of the Cyprus University of Technology for the period 2010-2020, which has been prepared with the participation of the whole university community (Departments, Administrative Services, Students). The Strategic Development Planning has been adopted by the Management Committee at its 54th meeting, held on 2nd July 2010.

The Cyprus University of Technology aspires to become a modern and innovative university with international recognition capable of providing high level education and research in cutting-edge industries that today have a great economic, technological and scientific performance. Being oriented primarily in applied research, it seeks to become a major supporter of the State and society to address problems that concern all areas of science, technology and the knowledge served therein. Its mission focuses on four pillars:

(A) Education,

(B) Science,

(C) Interface with the productive web of the country and

(D) Social contribution.

Under the vision and mission of the University the following nine strategic objectives have been established and will constitute the compass for its future development:

  6. Administrative support and infrastructure
  7. Quality assurance and development of quality consciousness
  8. Social contribution
  9. Student welfare

 

Each goal is broken down into a number of prioritized strategic options under which the measuring / monitoring indicators of progress are specified towards achieving the related objectives. The strategic development planning of the University, aiming the University to be able to serve around 6,000 students by 2020 is directly linked to the development of the campus, which will consist of modern facilities and laboratory infrastructure. The spatial pattern of the campus is located in a so-called second University development pole.
