Position: Quantitative Credit Risk Analyst

We are the Credit Analytics Division of RiskMatrix, Moody’s “Elite” Partner based in Larnaca, Cyprus. We help banks build, implement, and validate models for credit risk measurement and management. Our solutions combine robust quantitative techniques with practical insights, supporting compliance with regulations, accounting standards, and other requirements.
With a small team of exceptional people, RiskMatrix has built its client base to over 150 customers. This client base is in Cyprus, Greece, the Middle East and Near East regions, Egypt, Eastern Africa, Turkey, and Eastern Europe. You have the following attributes:
•You have strong programming skills and a passion for building analytical tools. As AI and automation become central to credit risk modelling, you are excited about learning and applying advanced techniques, including machine learning, to solve real-world problems.
•You are good at programming in Python and/or R, as well as SQL and Excel, and understand how to use these for data manipulation, transformation and model implementation.
•You have strong quantitative analysis skills. Much of our work involves the use of quantitative modelling tools; you will need a broad analytical background to understand and use these tools, and to identify and learn new approaches to solve problems; you will also need deep understanding of how to interpret results and draw out meaningful insights from the analysis;
•You have excellent communication skills. You will need to be able to communicate with senior clients, both verbally and in writing. You will need to be fluent in English and have excellent writing skills with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and succinct manner;
•You have a solid academic background with at least a good honours degree in a quantitative subject such as data science, mathematics, statistics, operational research, finance or engineering;

You are motivated to deliver high quality work, have good time management and self-management skills. We operate as a fairly flat structure; this means that each member in our team needs to focus on delivery, taking the initiative to ensure that all deliverables are completed to a high standard in a timely manner;
•You are happy working within a team, collaborating with colleagues and enhancing the team’s overall performance. Equally, you will also need to be comfortable working on your own.
Job description:
Our work is varied, and you will be a core part of our team delivering robust analytical solutions tailored to our clients’ requirements. You will develop and implement credit risk models1, validate other people’s models, and support our advisory work around climate and sustainability risk, governance frameworks and pricing models. We are specialists in helping banks address regulations, accounting rules (IFRS 9), stress testing requirements and internal capital adequacy assessments.
Core Skills Required:
•Programming: Python and/or R, SQL and Excel;
•Data manipulation, modelling, and analysis;
•Strong written and verbal communication in English;
•Critical thinking and problem solving;
•A good honours degree (or higher) in a quantitative subject.

The position is based in Larnaca, Cyprus, and may involve some travel within the countries in the region that we cover.
