Τhe appointment will be for a period of three (3) months with the prospect of. The monthly gross salary for the position will be €1559.79 based on the legislation currently in effect. From this amount, employee contributions will be deducted, according to current legislation. It is noted that there is provision for 13th salary (the cost of the 13th salary has been proportionally incorporated in the monthly remuneration as analyzed above).

According to the Cyprus University of Technology Law, the language of instruction at the University is either Greek or Turkish. For the current position, good knowledge of the Greek language is required; evidence is provided in the relevant circular by the Public Service Commission, or B2 Level according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).

In case an elected candidate does not have a good knowledge of Greek language based on the criteria set above, it is his/her obligation upon his/her election to achieve it within three years time, with the commitment of the relevant Academic Department.

The annual gross salary for each rank (including the 13th salary) upon election, based on legislation into effect, is:

From the above earnings, employee contributions to Government Funds as well as Income Tax will be deducted, according to the legislation into effect.

Academic Faculty Staff commence employment between the first working day of August and the first working day of September for the Fall Semester and between the first working day of December and the first working day of January for the Spring Semester, with at least one (1) months’ notice.

It is expected that the successful candidate will be available for the Fall Semester 2026 which begins on September 2026 (commencement of employment between August 2026 and September 2026), unless otherwise agreed.

Full Time Marie Skłodowska-Curie  Research Fellow (Doctoral Candidate) Position on the topic of "Metaverse Adoption in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)"

Applications are invited from candidates who possess the necessary qualifications in order to fill one (1) full time Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research Fellow (Doctoral Candidate) in the Department of Management, Entrepreneurship and Digital Business of the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) in the research fields of Metaverse Adoption in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

The selected MSCA fellow will work for 36 months within the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network Industrial Doctorate (MSCA-DN-ID) Project AGORA – “trAining younG researchers On shaping Metaverse for business and social vAlue” (https://agora-mariecurie.eu/).  Recruitment involves physical mobility. In addition, the fellow will participate in networking and career events, workshops and is expected to present his/her work at international conferences.  The fellow will be spending part of his/her time at the Cyprus University of Technology and will be also seconded for part of his/her time at a non-academic partner of the AGORA project.

AGORA  Project

Metaverse is set to revolutionize online and real-world interactions. Europe, aiming to lead in this sector, must address its challenges in line with its values. The AGORA Network offers a holistic understanding of the metaverse, blending technical, business and social insights. It prepares early-stage researchers for roles in academia, industry, and policymaking through its unique inter-sectoral network. The initiative will involve 17 'Marie Skłodowska Curie Fellows' for both academic and industrial research.

Description

As metaverses operate in real-time their wide adoption is expected to create digital public spaces for interaction in which the already possible online interactions are intensified and blended with the physical world as never before. The extensive adoption of metaverses will possibly lead to increased screen time and bandwidth consumption. As a result, users will be creating exponentially more data as they engage in metaverse aenironments, for work, play and other activities. Data arising using metaverses can contribute to value creation. This project will focus on how and which data could be gathered, what are the boundaries of relevant data management practices arises and what data management policies will be appropriate and ethical, whether and to what extent such data could be monetized while ensuring responsible data use.

Position

One (1) research fellow to be recruited by the host organization of the Cyprus University of Technology, Department of Management, Entrepreneurship and Digital Business, Paphos, Cyprus for the duration of three (3) years under full employment contract.

Requirements & Qualifications

1.  Mobility Requirement: At the time of recruitment, not have resided (or carried out his/her main activity e.g. work, studies, etc.) in Cyprus, for more than 12 months in the last 3 years immediately prior to the reference recruitment date.

2.  An academic record, including a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree from accredited universities in Computer Science, Management or other related field that would prepare the candidate to engage in this research.

3.  Proven proficiency in oral and written communication skills in English.

4.  Demonstrated ability to take research initiatives and work collaboratively and individually.

5.  Not in possession of a PhD degree at the date of recruitment.

3. Background in case study, qualitative and/or other empirical research methods.
4. Experience in academic writing (if available).

Benefits

• The monthly gross salary for this position will be 2,635.00 Euro. From this amount employer and employee contributions to the Cyprus government funds will be deducted (Note: the monthly gross salary after the deduction of employer contributions amounts to €2283.36 for 143.33 working hours per month, based on current legislation). 13th salary is provided and has been incorporated into the monthly gross salary. In addition, the fellow will be entitled to family and mobility allowances, according to the regulations of the Marie S. Curie Actions Programme regulations.                                                                                                                                      In total, the funding covers: (a) living/salary, (b) family allowance (€495 per month) for fellows with spouses or dependent children and (c) mobility allowance (€600 per month - no restrictions on what this is spent on)
• Personal Career Development Plan, opportunities for international collaboration, attending outstanding conferences/events and exchanges to world-class academic and industrial partners will take place
•  Registration for a PhD at Cyprus University of Technology
• Training in a range of state-of-the-art scientific skills, intellectual property, research commercialization, project management

η.         Ο/Η Ειδικός/ή Επιστήμονας που θα επιλεγεί θα παρέχει τη διδασκαλία στο χώρο που έχει το ΤΕΠΑΚ τις εγκαταστάσεις του, συμπεριλαμβανομένων και τυχόν εγκαταστάσεων εκτός της Επαρχίας Λεμεσού.  Επίσης, μετά από σχετικές οδηγίες ενδέχεται η διδασκαλία να γίνεται με σύγχρονα μέσα που να επιτρέπουν τη μη φυσική παρουσία.

Οι υποψήφιες/οι πρέπει να κατέχουν:

1. Διδακτορικό τίτλο από αναγνωρισμένο πανεπιστήμιο σε θέμα σχετικό με το γνωστικό αντικείμενο της θέσης.
2. Πολύ καλή γνώση της Ελληνικής και Αγγλικής γλώσσας.
3. Εμπειρία στη διδασκαλία πανεπιστημιακού επιπέδου.

Η αμοιβή των Ειδικών Επιστημόνων (γυναικών και ανδρών) κυμαίνεται από €34 – €68 την ώρα αναλόγως προσόντων και της φύσης των καθηκόντων. Η πληρωμή γίνεται ως εξής: αμοιβή x ώρες διδασκαλίας/την εβδομάδα x 14 εβδομάδες

Οι υποψήφιες/οι δεν είναι απαραίτητο να είναι πολίτες της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας.

The university reserves the right to request recognition of the doctorate degree from the Cyprus Council for the Recognition of Higher Education Qualifications (K.Y.S.A.T.S). The minimum qualifications that are required for each academic position, including publications and academic experience, are detailed on the University’s webpage: https://www.cut.ac.cy/university/administration/administrative-services/hr/jobs/staff-categories/academic-staff-qualifications/?languageId=1 These qualifications are based on the candidate’s years of academic experience, his/her research and scientific contribution.

The candidates will be assessed only for the rank or the ranks for which they have applied.

Citizenship of the Republic of Cyprus is not required.

According to the Cyprus University of Technology Law, the language of instruction at the University is either Greek or Turkish. For the current position, good knowledge of the Greek language is required; evidence is provided in the relevant circular by the Public Service Commission, or B2 Level according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).

In case an elected candidate does not have a good knowledge of Greek language based on the criteria set above, it is his/her obligation upon his/her election to achieve it within three years time, with the commitment of the relevant Academic Department.

The annual gross salary for each position (including the 13th salary) is:

From this amount, employee contributions to Government Funds as well as Income Tax will be deducted, according to the legislation into effect.

It is expected that the successful candidate will be available by January 2024, unless otherwise agreed.

2. Curriculum vitae which will include list of publications where applicable. The CV must also include detailed information in regard to previous employment such as: Position, organization/university, exact dates of employment, whether it is full-time or part-time (hours per week or per month must be specified) employment.
3. A short review of their research interests as well as a brief description of their future research plans - up to 500 words
4. Three representative scientific publications of their work. This is not obligatory for candidates who apply for the position of Lecturer
5. Copies of the candidate’s degree certificates

7. Names and email addresses of at least three academics, who, upon submission of the application, will be automatically notified to submit confidential reference letters in English, within seven (7) days from the deadline of the submission of applications.

The University may also request reference letters from independent referees of the choice of members of the Special Committee, if considered necessary. 

Applications, documents as well as reference letters that were submitted for previous position advertisements will not be taken into consideration.
