RESEARCH ASSOCIATE POSITION

Special Scientist for Research / Researcher A – R3**

 

Applications are invited from candidates who possess the necessary qualifications in order to fill one (1) Part-time Research Fellow position (Special Scientist for Research, Researcher A R3*) at the Department of of Civil Engineering and Geomatics in the field of “Atmospheric Physics using active and passive remote sensing.”.

Applicants should have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Physics and a Master’s degree in Environmental Physics, Meteorology, or Atmospheric Physics.
  • A PhD in Physics, Remote Sensing, Atmospheric Physics, Environmental Physics, or Civil Engineering.
  • More than ten (10) years of postdoc research experience in the fields of atmospheric physics, atmospheric aerosols, air pollution, remote sensing, or related subjects.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of active and passive remote sensing techniques, including lidar techniques, ground-based and satellite observations, and related measurement instruments.
  • Demonstrated experience in the processing and interpretation of atmospheric data, with emphasis on aerosol optical properties, air pollution, dust, smoke, and other atmospheric phenomena.
  • Proven participation in national and European research projects and collaboration with research groups and international scientific organisations.
  • A strong research publication record in scientific journals and international conferences in the relevant scientific fields.
  • Organisational and research skills, as well as the ability to collaborate within interdisciplinary and international research teams.

 

The following will be considered as an advantage:

  • Experience in the management and implementation of national and/or European-funded research projects.
  • Experience in international research collaborations, scientific campaigns, and research mobility.
  • Experience with research infrastructures and experimental campaigns involving the monitoring of clouds, aerosols, dust, smoke, and other atmospheric parameters.
  • Experience in the synergistic use of ground-based, airborne, and satellite observations for atmospheric studies.
  • Experience in the preparation of scientific papers, presentations, and research project deliverables.

 

 

Τhe appointment will be for a period of twelve months (12) months with the prospect of renewal for twenty four (24) months. The monthly gross salary for the position will be €437,32, (3 hours per week) based on the legislation currently in effect. From this amount, employee contributions will be deducted, according to current legislation. It is noted that there is provision for 13th salary (the cost of the 13th salary has been proportionally incorporated in the monthly remuneration as analyzed above).
