Scholarships for undegraduate students from Africa

The Council of the University decided (109th meeting, 24.9.2020) that for scholarship students from Africa the following should be provided:

1. The scholarship includes a preliminary year for learning the Greek language.

2. The scholarship lasts as long as the normal years of study, i.e. 4 years, with the possibility of extension for up to 6 years, if these are needed for the completion of the degree.

3. The scholarship covers:

3.1 Once in the beginning:

  • Purchase of PC up to € 500
  • Fee for application for a permit to enter Cyprus (as determined by the state)
  • By law compulsory medical examinations (for entry permit) up to €150

3.2 Annually:

  • Living allowance € 3600 (€ 300 x 12 months)
  • Rent for accommodation in a dorm depending on the type of apartment up to € 3,000 (€ 250 x 12 months) *
  • Air ticket up to € 1000
  • Fee for application for issuance / renewal of a residence permit in Cyprus (as determined by the state)
  • Compulsory medical examinations by law (for residence permit) up to € 150
  • Mandatory issuance of a health certificate by a public hospital
  • By law mandatory individual insurance contract up to € 150
  • By law and Regulations mandatory other special medical examinations up to € 180
  • Other expenses up to € 100

* The coverage of the rent accommodation in a home does not apply in the cases of scholarship holders for which other organizations took the responsibility of covering it. If the organization cannot clearly ensure the residence of the new scholarship holders, then they will be placed in a home and the external institution will be asked to cover the relevant cost. Furthermore, in case a student goes to his country during the summer months (July and / or August), the payment of rent for accommodation in a dormitory will not cover the summer months.

4. It is understood that students are not charged with any tuition fees, nor does the University ask the state to pay tuition fees for these students, as it does for all other undergraduate students.
