Vision and Objectives

 

The vision of the Department is to evolve and establish itself as an international center of research and excellence in the field of hospitality and tourism management. The objective is the rational development and dissemination of the scientific knowledge and values ​​on which the professions of hospitality and tourism companies are based and the training of high-level scientists who will be able to employ the industry by implementing administration and management strategies that will ensure the economic, social, cultural and environmental sustainability.

The objectives of the Department are:

  • To attract students, high-level academic and administrative staff.
  • To offer quality undergraduate and postgraduate academic experience and professional development to students from both Cyprus and abroad in Tourism and Hospitality Management.
  • To undertake and carry out innovative, high-level applied research and to provide consulting services aimed at promoting and scientifically redefining the Hotel and Tourism Management sector in Cyprus.
  • To provide students with the most modern scientific training in Hotel and Tourism Management.
  • To create and maintain close ties and collaboration with the local and international hospitality and tourism industry so that it can become an international research and education center.
  • To facilitate and expand international cooperation and educational mobility and student and academia mobility, especially in the European space.
  • To provide the basis for promoting lifelong learning for industry professionals.

Graduates of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management will have the appropriate scientific background to enable them:

  • Develop strategic and operational plans and efficiently manage organizational resources towards providing a quality, unique experience that meets the expectations of hospitality and tourism industry customers.
  • Communicate and create long-term interpersonal relationships with the various stakeholders in the industry for the common benefit.
  • Design innovative travel experiences across a wide range of tourist markets.
  • Operate efficiently both locally and in the internationally changing environment of the hospitality and tourism industry, which is constantly diversifying and changing, exerting the consequences of globalization.
  • Inspire, motivate and lead groups of people to achieve corporate goals.
  • Understand tourism and hospitality industry-related contemporary social, cultural and environmental issues.
  • Create and maintain a positive working environment that encourages and strengthens teamwork, creativity, innovation and understanding.
