SPECIAL SCIENTIST FOR RESEARCH/SENIOR RESEARCHER B’ POSITION

 

Applications are invited from candidates who possess the necessary qualifications in order to fill one (1) Part-time Special Scientist for Research / Senior Researcher B’ position at the Department of Civil Engineering and Geomatics in the field of “Civil Engineering and Structural Health Monitoring”.

 

Applicants should have:

  • A Ph.D. title from a recognized university in one or a combination of the following fields of study: Civil Engineering / Structural Health Monitoring.
  • At least a total of seven (7) years of autonomous research work after the award of the doctoral title, at a recognized University or research center.
  • Publication of works, such as articles in international scientific journals of well-known reputation or monographs or books of recognized publishing companies, substantiating a remarkable autonomous research work.
  • Ability of instructing and promoting research, instruction or significant contribution in research programmes or ensuring financing research activities.
  • Indications of international recognition of the candidate’s contribution to the field of civil engineering, such as research reports, invitations for scientific lectures, assignment of the evaluation of articles and research reports, participation in committees for the publication of scientific journals or participation in the organization of seminars.
  • Experience in field testing for data acquisition (encompassing both static and dynamic types).
  • Ability to perform analysis and system identification on acquired data.
  • Proficiency in developing structural finite element models utilizing the ANSYS or similar software.
  • Very good knowledge of English (spoken and written) as indicated in the relevant circular by the Public Service Commission.
  • Organizational and communication skills, willingness to take initiatives, responsibility and teamwork.

 

The following will be considered as an advantage:

  • Extensive research experience in the specialized field of structural health monitoring or infrastructure and cultural heritage.

 

The selected researcher will work within the CONNECTING (Research and Innovation Knowledge Centre for Engineering in Heritage) project, funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the Republic of Cyprus through the Research and Innovation Foundation of Cyprus under contract SMALL SCALE INFRASTRUCTURES/1222/0062, for an initial period of six (6) months with the prospect of renewal. The monthly gross salary for the position will range between €561,36 and €865,84, based on legislation into effect. From this amount, employee contributions to Government Funds as well as Income Tax will be deducted, according to the legislation into effect.  It is noted that there is provision for 13th salary (the cost of the 13th salary has been proportionally incorporated in the monthly remuneration as analyzed above).
