FACULTY OF FINE AND APPLIED ARTS

DEPARTMENT OF FINE ARTS

Applicants for the above ranks should have a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree from a recognized University and good knowledge of the Greek language. The university reserves the right to request recognition of the Bachelor’s and of the Master’s degree from the Cyprus Council for the Recognition of Higher Education Qualifications (K.Y.S.A.T.S).

The above specializations are considered of exceptional and unquestionable particularity, for which the authorship of a doctoral thesis and the acquisition of a doctoral degree are either not possible or not common. Therefore, for the above posts, there is no requirement for a doctoral degree. The minimum qualifications that are required for the above mentioned academic positions, including publications and academic experience, are contained within the provisions of article 26B of the Cyprus University of Technology Law of 2012 (111(I)/2012), as it was published in the official Government Gazette on July 17, 2012, Issue no. 4348 and are detailed on the University’s webpage: http://www.cut.ac.cy/university/jobs/academic/exceptionfa/. These qualifications are based on the candidate’s years of academic experience, and on his/her artistic and research work and contribution. Candidates should especially take note of the requirement for at least (5) years (for applications to the Lecturer rank) of autonomous teaching or research work, after the award of the Master’s Degree, at an accredited institution of higher or highest education, or equivalent research centre.

The languages of instruction at the University are Greek and/or Turkish. Citizenship of the Republic of Cyprus is not a requirement.

In case an elected candidate does not have a sufficient proficiency level of the Greek language, it is the obligation of the new faculty member to achieve a good level of the Greek language within three years.  This should be confirmed by the relevant Department to which the elected candidate is assigned.  It is noted that each Department is entitled to set its own criteria for the level of proficiency of the Greek language required.
