Purpose of the Programme

The Doctoral Programme in Management, Entrepreneurship and Digital Business aims to develop highly skilled researchers capable of conducting original and impactful research that advances scientific knowledge and addresses contemporary challenges in organisations, entrepreneurship, digital transformation, and society.

The programme provides doctoral candidates with advanced methodological, analytical, and critical thinking skills necessary to undertake independent research at the highest academic level. Through rigorous coursework, research seminars, supervised research activities, and dissertation work, students develop the ability to analyse existing knowledge, collect and interpret primary and secondary data, generate novel theoretical and practical insights, and disseminate research findings through high-quality academic publications and conferences.

The programme seeks to cultivate an active and internationally connected research community that contributes to academic excellence, innovation, evidence-based decision-making, and societal development in Cyprus and internationally.

Expected Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the Doctoral Programme, graduates will be able to:

Knowledge and Understanding

  • Demonstrate advanced and systematic knowledge of theories, concepts, and contemporary debates in Management, Entrepreneurship, and Digital Business.
  • Critically evaluate and synthesize existing academic literature to identify theoretical and empirical gaps.

  • Design and conduct original, independent, and ethically sound doctoral-level research.

Detailed Study Programme

The programme is normally completed over four years (eight semesters) and combines advanced coursework, research training, doctoral milestones, and dissertation research.

Admission to the Doctoral Programme in Management, Entrepreneurship and Digital Business is open to applicants who demonstrate strong academic potential and a clear commitment to conducting high-quality research.

Minimum Entry Requirements

Applicants must hold:

  • A recognised Master’s degree in Management, Entrepreneurship, Digital Business, or a related discipline, such as Marketing, Accounting, Strategy, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, or other relevant fields.
  • Any pending degree requirements must be completed before enrolment in the Doctoral Programme.

English Language Requirements

As the language of instruction and thesis submission is English, applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English through one of the following:

  • GCE English Language: Grade C or above;
  • IELTS: Minimum overall score of 6.5;
  • TOEFL: Minimum score of 580 (Paper-Based Test) or 82 (Internet-Based Test);
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree awarded by a recognised English-speaking university or research institution.

The Department may waive the formal language requirement if sufficient English proficiency is demonstrated during the personal interview.

Selection Criteria

Admission decisions are based on a holistic evaluation of applicants, taking into consideration:

  • Academic qualifications and previous academic performance;
  • Relevance of educational background to the proposed field of doctoral research;
  • Statement of research interests and alignment with the Department’s research areas;
  • Performance during the admission interview.

Admission Procedure

Prospective candidates are required to submit an application through the University’s postgraduate admissions system, together with all supporting documentation. Shortlisted applicants may be invited to an interview with members of the Department’s academic staff to assess their research potential, motivation, and suitability for doctoral studies.

Successful applicants are admitted to the programme subject to approval by the relevant University bodies and the availability of appropriate academic supervision.
