Quality in Programs of Study

  • Academic experts from other universities and institutions abroad are involved in the design and redesign of the study programs.
  • The study programs are designed to consult with employers, professional associations, Civil Society, special population groups, graduates, external teachers (eg visitors), for improvements in lesson planning based on the needs of the international and Cypriot market (Industry, Services, etc.) and labor market.
  • Periodically (every 3-4 years) the content of the study programs is evaluated.
  • During the revisions of the study programs it is taken into consideration : 1) The everday life of Cypriots, reality, and the current and future needs of the institutions (eg industries, organizations, etc.) after research are taken into account. 2) If necessary, courses are adjusted so that they are in line with advances in technology and science and, 3) Check whether the courses chosen are sufficient or not.
  • Any significant changes to the curriculum are submitted by the Department Councils, approved by the Postgraduate Studies Advisory Committee and the Internal Quality Committee, and ratified by the Senate.
  • All new and existing curricula are submitted for evaluation-certification to the Quality Assurance and Certification Body of Higher Education (DIPEA), which is responsible for ensuring the quality of higher education in Cyprus, once approved by the Committee on Strategic Planning and Development, the Committee on Undergraduate and Postgraduate Studies and the Committee of Internal Quality, and ratified by the Senate and the Council.
  • For each new or existing undergraduate or graduate degree program to be submitted to the DIPAE Institution for evaluation-a complete study report is done on the viability-which includes, among others, market research, employment prospects of students / graduates, as well as (eg businesses, business associations, etc.).
  • The external evaluation and certification of programs is repeated every five (5) years by External Evaluation Committees appointed by the DI.PA.E.
