Internal transfer - Change of undergraduate programme

A student of the University may ask to change the undergraduate programme after completing the first semester of study and until the end of the eighth semester of study.

Students who have obtained a mark equal to or higher than the last admission of the First Distribution of Positions (after the Pan-cyprian or Panhellenic Examinations) at the Department they wish to enter, have the right to apply before the completion of the first semester of their studies.

Procedure and Deadline for Applications

Applications for internal transfer are made in mid-March and mid-October each year for admission from the next academic semester.

The candidate's application together with all required supporting documents is submitted electronically via the University Portal to the Academic Affairs and Student Welfare Service of the University, which is in charge to check and forward it to the competent Department suggesting as to whether the candidate has the minimum qualifications for transfer, as specified by the University.

The Council of the Department appoints a three-member Transfer Committee consisting of members of the academic staff, examining the applications for transfer and making recommendations on accepting them or not.

The Departments take their final decisions which are sent justified, either positive or negative to the Academic Affairs and Student Welfare Service, which in its turn informs the candidates in writing. In cases of unjustified answers, the Academic Affairs and Student Welfare Service addresses the Department, asking for more clarifications.

Where the Transfer Committee of the Department deems necessary, the candidate may undergo special entrance examinations and / or personal interview before a transfer decision is taken.

A change of an undergraduate course can only be done once, provided that there are available positions.

Recognition of modules and marks calculation

For a student who makes an internal transfer, the total length of study at the University should not exceed twelve semesters.

For calculating purposes of the maximum permitted time for studies completion for each student who makes an internal transfer, half of the time spent in his / her previous degree will be credited.

For a student who makes an internal transfer, only the recognised modules will be calculated in the average mark.
