Focusing on student concerns, quests, and dilemmas is fundamental for both our everyday operations and for our long-term strategy.  

The aim is to achieve distinction on issues of student welfare and student life, overcoming established local standards and become competitive with modern, highly achieving university structures worldwide.

Career services are important for our students because they:

  • Trigger reflection and search for professional pursuits that meet their needs and aspirations
  • Prepare students to effectively contest for quality jobs
  • Create networking opportunities with potential employers
  • Offer independent information about the labor market and further studies as well.

Our Action Plan (2018-2020) consists of the following elements: 

Personal development and Skills

Taking into account market needs and requirements series of specialized seminars and workshops are taking place for the development of personal skills such as problem solving, communication, teamwork, creative thinking, leadership, entrepreneurship, startups personal branding etc.  

Technology tools

Small group workshops and mentor-driven learning programmes are offered on using new technology tools in various business frames such as social media for marketing purposes, statistical packages for market research, digital marketing tools, video/image editing etc.  In addition, advanced courses will be set up for sector-specific technologies such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Theova, Linux/UNIX Server, SQL, Cisco network, Python, Bash scripting, Network Security certificates (CCNA/CCNP Security) etc.

Professional qualifications  

Students are encouraged and supported towards acquiring certain professional qualifications such as HACCP Inspector, ISO Specialist, Certified Trainer, Energy Efficiency Specialist, Chartered/Certified Accountant, Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, CySec certification etc.

Resume building and job interview preparation  

The CV Month series provides students great opportunities to learn how to create an attractive resume and to prepare for job interviews. Seminars, mentoring and online feedback processes are activated and mock interviews are taking place in collaboration with Cyprus Human Resource Management Association and individual HR experts. 

Providing information on job vacancies and other opportunities   

A meaningful communication network involving employers and students/recent graduates has been established in order to enhance employability opportunities for students in win-win relationships with businesses. Available jobs will are posted on the university careers website and social media platforms, whereas the annual Career Fair provids students and graduates opportunities to meet face-to-face with recruiters and employers.      

In addition, series of presentations are held on young unemployed placement schemes, local and international internship programmes, European mobility programmes, youth entrepreneurship programmes and EPSO news and hiring processes.

Graduate employability survey   

A will be conducted in 2019 as a follow-up to a previous one

Since spring 2016 we have been conducting an on-going graduate employability survey. Results go through analysis and are taken into account in University decision-making bodies. 

Further studies

To provide reliable information on prospects, prerequisites and scholarships offered, on further university education options, we established communication channels and cooperation with foreign diplomatic missions in Cyprus and international education institutions. Country Days are events showcasing country-specific offerings and opportunities. 

In addition, an annual PhD prospects meeting is be held with participating academics providing meaningful insights to interested students.
