  • Two (2) PhD posts in the general area of “Oral History, Displacement, and Technology

Description: The candidate will conduct in-depth research to explore how oral history can contribute to the documentation of displaced people's experiences, how oral histories add to historical understandings of displacement and collective identity, as well as the place of oral history in accessing historical narratives, and memory. Furthermore, the candidate will investigate the use of technological tools in making these histories more accessible to the wider public and in creating educational resources for schools and museums. By delving into displacement narratives and their influence on identity formation and the official historical narrative, the selected candidate will contribute to the existing body of knowledge in this field, while the study will explore the role of technology in shaping the experiences and expressions of displaced individuals, providing valuable insights into the complex interplay between displacement, identity formation, and technology.

Keywords: oral history, displacement, technology

  • M.A. Degree from an accredited University on History, Museum Studies, or relevant degree
  • Excellent knowledge of English language.
  • Ability to organize and carry out research independently.

In parallel with his/her study the successful candidate may be employed in currently active research programs and/or be assigned teaching-related duties at the Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts with appropriate reimbursement.
