Admission for PhD studies, starting January 2021

The Cyprus University of Technology accepts applications for a limited number of posts at Doctoral level (PhD) that will begin January 2021 in the specific programs that are posted online.

The application along with the supporting documents is submitted electronically, using the online application system of the University, Student’s Portal (click here)

The last date to apply for postgraduate studies is Friday, 27th of November 2020.

 

The following documents are required to be submitted, with the applications:

  1. A Copy of a valid Passport or civil ID.
  2. A Copy of University degree and postgraduate degree at Master level (where required), or a confirmation letter which states that the candidate is expected to graduate before he/she starts the doctoral program.
  3. Transcript for the Undergraduate and Graduate degree/s.  
  4. A Curriculum Vitae (C.V.)
  5. A short essay (about 500 words) describing the reasons for choosing the postgraduate program, research goals and the interests of the applicant.
  6. Any other certificates and documents, such as samples of relevant academic or professional work (publications, articles, surveys, digital work, etc.)
  7. A document noting the order of preference for the post or posts that the applicant is applying for as posted online at Doctoral Posts (https://www.cut.ac.cy/studies/phd/phd-posts/)

The potential candidates are asked to provide the names of two referee who in a position to evaluate their academic and/or professional activities. The Department may contact these people as references.

Every department can ask for additional confidential information from the potential candidate or chose to require specific criteria to be met to apply. 

 

Study System

The doctoral programs are composed of at least 180 ECTS, where at least 60 ECTS relate to the comprehensive examination, for the preparation and presentation of the research proposal and the writing of a doctoral examination.  The remaining workload relates to purely research of the project and any lessons that can be included in accordance with the Council’s decision of the Department.  Doctoral students enroll each semester in one of the stages of the program.  The requirements for a doctoral degree and other details regarding PhD studies are described in the Rules for Studies and Attendance.

Scholarships

The Cyprus University of Technology is able to grant internal scholarships for postgraduate studies on the basis of social-economic criteria, according to the Frame of the policy for Concession of Internal Scholarships for postgraduate studies, which is in effect at the Cyprus University of Technology

The applications along with the supporting documents are submitted electronically, online by the Student portal of the Cyprus University of Technology.

Please note that applicants can apply for more than one thematic topic.   In this case, the applicant must attach a separate document noting the order of preference for the topics that they are applying for.
