Description: Increasingly artists are using emerging technologies, such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR), holograms, multimedia and interactive technologies to produce their work. These technologies are changing rapidly and, as a result, museums are faced with a number of challenges when it comes to acquiring, maintaining, conserving and displaying this kind of art. The candidate will be expected to conduct extensive research on how museums and galleries acquire, maintain, preserve and display art that uses emerging technologies.

Candidates should possess:

  • M.A. Degree from an accredited University on Museum Studies, Heritage Studies, Art History or relevant degree
  • Excellent knowledge of English language.
  • Ability to organize and carry out research independently.
  • Experience with technology, museums or other heritage sites will be considered an advantage.
  • Prior experience in research activities (i.e. publication record, submitting research proposals, participating in research programs) will be considered as an additional qualification.

The application should include a letter of interest or statement of purpose written in English or Greek, that explains/describes why the applicant wishes to undertake this specific study, his/her research objectives and other relevant information (500-800 words maximum).

  • One (1) post in topics: "First Person Computer Vision" or "Using Virtual Environments to Assist the Development of First-Person Computer Vision Applications"

Description: The research will focus on developing first-person Computer Vision systems that aim to improve personal safety while allowing humans to work more efficiently and adapt in a better way to their environment. Examples of topics considered include, but are not limited to, obstacle detection for improving pedestrian safety, the use of wearable cameras in cultural heritage sites, and the use of wearable cameras for enhancing the learning experience. The topics will be addressed through research and development in the areas of computer vision, machine learning and their combination with emerging technologies such as mobile computing, ubiquitous computing, virtual and mixed reality.

Candidates should possess:

  • Postgraduate Degree of Master’s level from accredited Universities in Computer Science or Multimedia or Electronic Engineering or any related field.
  • Excellent computer programming skills
  • Ability to organize and carry out research work independently.
  • Very good knowledge of English language.
  • Prior experience in research activities (i.e. publication record, submitting research proposals, participating in research programs) will be considered as an additional qualification.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and a postgraduate Degree of Master’s level* from accredited Universities in a relevant field (e.g. Interactive Media/ Computer Science/ Computer Engineering/ Neuroscience/ Psychology) with specialization in Virtual Reality or/and Biosignals measurements.
  • Excellent programming skills / excellent knowledge of  C/C++ programming language or/and excellent knowledge of a game engine (e.g. Unity)
  • Ability to work independently on research projects
  • Excellent knowledge of English language (spoken and written)
  • The following will be considered as additional qualifications:
  • experience in submitting research proposals and/or participation in research projects
  • very good knowledge of a 3D modelling software
  • experience in experimental research
  • good knowledge of  statistical analysis

Description: Semiotics as a science that studies culture grounded in signification and communication processes, it also explores the mechanisms of coding, de-coding as well as interpreting specific messages in different areas and applications of Visual Communication. The candidate will be expected to conduct extensive research on how Semiotics can be used for the construction, understanding and interpretation of cultural meanings that relate and derive from the study of Visual Communication, for example through advertisements, social networks, branding, websites, multimedia, print or digital applications etc.

Candidates should possess:

  • M.A. Degree from an accredited University on the above topic areas or relevant degree
  • Excellent knowledge of English language.
  • Ability to organize and carry out research independently.

Description: Graphic Design refers to the process of visualising ideas with a purpose to communicate specific messages to predetermined target audiences. It fulfils three functions, that is to offer, organise and hierarchise visual information, present and promote ideas, as well as provide a visual identity to a brand or institution. The candidate will be expected to conduct extensive research on how any of these functions can be used through design to provide solutions to social problems or improve the lives of specific target audiences.

Candidates should possess:

  • M.A. Degree from an accredited University on the above topic areas or relevant degree
  • Excellent knowledge of English language.
  • Ability to organize and carry out research independently.
  • Excellent knowledge of graphic design software
