Candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and a postgraduate Degree of Master’s level* from accredited Universities in a relevant field (e.g. Interactive Media/ Computer Science/ Computer Engineering/ Neuroscience/ Psychology) with specialization in Virtual Reality or/and Biosignals measurements.
  • Excellent programming skills / excellent knowledge of  C/C++ programming language or/and excellent knowledge of a game engine (e.g. Unity)
  • Ability to work independently on research projects
  • Excellent knowledge of English language (spoken and written)
  • The following will be considered as additional qualifications:
  • experience in submitting research proposals and/or participation in research projects
  • very good knowledge of a 3D modelling software
  • experience in experimental research
  • good knowledge of  statistical analysis

* In cases where the candidate demonstrates EXCEPTIONAL academic performance; holding a postgraduate degree may not be a restrict requirement to apply for this position. (Even though it is highly recommended)

The successful candidate(s) will be affiliated with the research lab of Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts, Microsoft Computer Games and Emerging Technologies (GET Lab – http://www.getlab.org) and will take part in the research activities of the lab.

The successful candidate(s) may be assigned teaching-related duties, with appropriate reimbursement, at the Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts, based on the needs of department per academic year or/and research responsibilities at GET Lab.

Successful candidates with excellent academic qualifications may be hired as researchers at research projects that GET Lab is involved.

This post involves multidisciplinary research in areas related to Digital Performance and more
specifically: Technologies for Theatre and Dance, Interactive Narratives, Digital
Scenography, New Media and Mixed Reality.

Candidates should possess:

  • Postgraduate Degree of Master’s level from accredited Universities and a strong interest in technology and/or stage performance/exhibition/installation.
  • Ability to organize and carry out research work independently.

This post involves practice-based and multidisciplinary research in areas related to Experimental Sound Art, Sound Installation, Sound Studies, and soundscapes Studies. Candidates interested in “Materialist” methodologies, Physical Computing, DIY (‘Hertzian’) Electronics, and Creative Coding, are particularly encouraged to apply.

Candidates should possess:

  • Postgraduate Degree of Master’s Level from accredited Universities in some related field.
  • Ability to organise and carry out research work independently.
  • Very good knowledge of the English language.
  • Excellent technical skills in the particular area of their specialisation.
  • Prior experience in research or artistic activities (i.e. publication record, submitting research proposals, participating in research programs, public performances/exhibitions, discography, etc) is considered as an additional qualification.

  • One (1) post in the topic: "Computer Vision and Wearable Cameras" or "Using Virtual Environments to Assist the Development of First-Person Computer Vision Applications"

Research will focus on developing first-person Computer Vision systems that aim to improve personal safety while allowing humans to work more efficiently and adapt in a better way to their environment. Examples of topics considered include, but are not limited to, obstacle detection for improving pedestrian safety, the use of wearable cameras in cultural heritage sites, and the use of wearable cameras for enhancing the learning experience. The topics will be addressed through research and development in the areas of computer vision, machine learning and their combination with emerging technologies such as mobile computing, ubiquitous computing, virtual and mixed reality.

Candidates should possess:

  • Postgraduate Degree of Master’s level from accredited Universities in Computer Science or Multimedia or Electronic Engineering or any related field.

Description: Research will focus on the study of Making and Makerspaces as related to accessibility and people/children with disabilities.   Domains of study and experimentation might include robotics or/and other forms of making/makerspace technologies.
