Dr Panayiota Katsamba is a Lecturer in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Cyprus University of Technology, specialising in the
Design and Optimisation of Industrial Chemical Engineering Processes. She holds a BA, MMath, and PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Cambridge. Prior to her appointment, she was an Associate Research Scientist at the Cyprus Institute and PI of the RIF EXCELLENCE HUB project
MICROFIBRES. She previously held postdoctoral positions at the University of Birmingham and the Cyprus Institute, where she led industrial and cross-disciplinary collaborations at CaSToRC, securing multiple industry–academia research projects. She is the founder of
[...]CY-MATHS-IN and serves as National Representative and Executive Board Member of EU-MATHS-IN. She spearheads research in microscale engineering, material science and industrial problems, by coupling applied mathematics with multi-scale computational modelling and HPC-driven simulations to study the interactions of fluid, elastic and chemical phenomena at the microscale, relevant to active matter, microengineering, circular biomaterials and microplastics with strong engagement in industry-driven and sustainability-driven challenges.
