Yeast International Student Film Festival

The 1st Yeast International Student Film Festival, organized by Cyprus University of Technology is about to begin. A three day cinema experience, including over 90 selected student films from universities and art schools all over the world, but also including two concerts and a workshop, is taking place on 23th-25th of February at three venues in the city center of Limassol.

Program

On Friday 23rd

A Film Production Workshop @CUT Department of Fine Arts Building will take place on Friday morning (starts 11AM). Workshop participants will be introduced to the film production stages, using experimental progressive filming and stop motion techniques. The result of the workshop will be screened on Sunday's "Session CY". The instructors of the workshop are Asst. Professors Nicos Synnos & Yiannis Christidis. Registration is required: bit.ly/3w6FIOe. EU Funding Opportunities for Culture and the Audiovisual Sector by Nenad Bogdanovic, the Head of Creative Europe Desk Cyprus will be presented during the workshop break and before the light lunch. In the evening, two Sessions of international student shorts will be screened @Synergeio Theatre (start 6PM). At the end of the sessions, a concert will take place at the same space (starts 10PM): musician Vaggelis Gettos and choreographer Giulio De Lea will improvise, creating a short live performance, as part of their "Searching for Europa" project in progress.

On Saturday 24th

Three evening Sessions (starting 5PM) of short films will take place @Xydadiko, interrupted by half-hour breaks. At the end a collaborative concert will take place: an Open Collective Jam Concert (starts 9:30PM) invites musicians and sound artists to connect their gear/instrument to the main PA console, and create experimental soundscapes to accompany the projection of Metropolis (1927) by Fritz Lang. On Sunday 25th

Four Sessions in total will conclude the festival: one session (starts 11:30 AM) in the morning and three in the afternoon. The evening sessions include one that consists of animation shorts exclusively (starts 5PM), and 'Session CY', which showcases films made by Cyprus University of Technology students (starts 6:30PM).
