Loukas Kanetis is Associate Professor at the Department of Agricultural Sciences, Biotechnology and Food Science (ABF) of the Cyprus University of Technology. He holds a Diploma in Crop Science from the Agricultural University of Athens, Greece and a PhD in Plant Pathology from the University of California, Riverside, USA. He has performed postdoctoral research at the Department of Plant Pathology of the North Carolina State University, USA, and the ABF, while he has also served as Special Teaching Staff at the latter.

His main research interests include:
- Plant disease management using conventional, biological, and integrated approaches
- Etiology of plant diseases & Mycology
- Epidemiology and population dynamics of plant pathogens
