LCE 129 is a three-hour per week, 4-ECTS (European Credits Transfer and Accumulation System) required degree level course that concentrates on the learning of English for Academic Purposes. The course is particularly designed to support Management students’ studies by developing their English language to an academic level, equivalent to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) level B1.
LCE 129 aims to familiarize students with authentic material related to (a) general topics such as university student profile, language learning, and cross-cultural communication (b) academic topics such as study skills, learning styles, and literature review and referencing, as well as (c) specific topics related to the learners’ field of study (Management), such as innovation, entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship, investment, and raising capital. Students will develop their knowledge and skills pertaining to various spoken and written forms of communication and interaction, such as lectures, interviews, discussions, elevator pitches, reports, and summaries. The course is based on current learning theories and aims at developing students’ language skills as well as transferrable 21st century skills, such as communication, digital literacy, collaboration, creativity, innovation, critical thinking, intercultural awareness, autonomy and lifelong learning.
