The increasing occurrence of crises, as well as the social and environmental complexities in the business environment necessitate new innovative solutions. Social innovation deals with the identification and exploitation of new ideas for the creation and commercialization of products, services, processes, or ways of organizing that benefit society and drive social change.
This module helps students develop an understanding of the way entrepreneurship and innovation can manifest into positive social change and sustainable solutions. It equips students with knowledge on the processes of social innovation, and how modern entrepreneurs must develop themselves to play a key role within them.
Students will learn how key mechanisms and processes associated with entrepreneurship and innovation can be used to identify and address societal challenges. The module will introduce students to key concepts and debates within social innovation and social value creation, drawing on social innovation theory, and best practices and business strategies on social innovation execution.
Students will have the opportunity to meet and learn from real social entrepreneurs (guest speakers), as well as carry out activities on the identification and creation of innovative solutions linked to a real social problem.
