Topic:  Wellbeing in the Accounting profession: A sociomaterial approach

Brief Description: This study explores wellbeing in the accounting profession through a sociomaterial and feminist theoretical lens. Rather than treating wellbeing as an individual psychological outcome, the study examines how it is produced through the entanglement of people, technologies, organisational practices, policies, spaces, and material artefacts. Drawing on the work of Karen Barad and other feminist scholars in new materialism and feminist studies, the research conceptualises wellbeing as an emergent and relational phenomenon that is continually enacted through everyday accounting practices. By investigating how material-discursive arrangements shape experiences of work, care, responsibility, and professional identity, the project aims to offer new insights into wellbeing in the accounting profession and contribute to more inclusive and sustainable organisational practices.
