Maria Shehade has obtained her postgraduate title and her Doctorate from University College London and her fist degree from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She also holds a Certificate in Negotiation from the Institute of Leadership and Management in the UK.
Her doctoral thesis focuses on negotiations, conflict management and on alternative dispute resolution (ADR). In particular, the result of her research was the development of a novel strategic framework for the negotiation and resolution of cultural property disputes, through the novel application of system dynamics in negotiations.
Maria has worked as a teaching assistant at
[...]University College London and as guest lecturer at the University of Nicosia. She has also contributed to research projects as a research assistant, both in the UK and in Cyprus.
She has received funding for her studies from the National Foundation of Scholarships of Greece, the UCL Graduate School and the Leventis Scholarship Foundation, which funded her doctoral research.
Her research interests focus, amongst others, on the application of system dynamics in negotiations, on alternative dispute resolution (ADR), as well as on Dispute Systems Design in organisations. She has also investigated topics on negotiations and stakeholders’ management and she has delivered seminars on mapping and analysis of stakeholders in conflict situations. She has also served as a reviewer in foreign academic journals and participated in the organising committee of academic conferences.
