Diversity and Inclusion Office

At the Cyprus University of Technology we recognize the invaluable contribution that comes from the richness of diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives as well as the imperative need to recognize and embrace these differences. With this in mind, we established the Diversity and Inclusion Office to actively promote a culture of inclusion in our university community. We believe that diversity and inclusion are fundamental pillars that can contribute to a vibrant and thriving university community.

Vision

Our vision is to foster a university environment that is welcoming, inclusive, positive, safe, empowering and just.

Aim

Our aim is to foster active recognition of the differences that individuals, groups and communities bring to our university and to provide equal opportunities, equal access and support for the professional and personal development of all members of our community.

Mission

Our mission is to empower our community through initiatives that promote understanding, foster appreciation, and seamlessly integrate diversity into the culture of our university. We strive to integrate diversity into the way we think and act at all levels of the university, promoting a sense of belonging and respect for all individuals.

Diversity & Inclusion

At D&I Office we perceive Diversity and Inclusion as interrelated elements necessary for shaping our organizational identity and culture:

Diversity, for us, includes recognizing and embracing the unique and multiple characteristics that individuals carry including, but not limited to, differences in sex, gender, sexual orientation, age, race, ethnicity, skin color, abilities and more.

Embracing diversity in all its forms enriches our learning environment, fosters innovation and strengthens understanding between our students and staff.

Inclusion, for us, is to ensure that within the university community there is space for all individuals, that their voice is heard and respected, and that each individual feels that they belong and are valued for their uniqueness, for who they are.

Our pursuit of inclusion is intertwined with our effort to address barriers, discriminations, inequalities, stereotypes and prejudices that individuals may encounter because of their differences. Therefore, by developing and embedding the two pillars of Diversity and Inclusion in our organizational identity, we are actively cultivating an inclusive culture.

Role & Responsibilities

The D&I Office reflects the commitment of the university authorities to remain aligned with contemporary values and current social changes. It reports administratively to the Rector's Office and collaborates directly with the Equality Committee.

We work with the university authorities to promote diversity and the systemic inclusion of diversity across the university.

We support the implementation of Strategic Planning and ensure the implementation of approved Action Plans and Policies aimed at promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.

We believe that together we can create a university community that reflects the rich diversity of our society and embraces the uniqueness of all its members.
