The Department of Communication and Marketing of the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) is organizing a Conference and Technology Exhibition entitled "AI WAVE: RIDE INTO THE FUTURE", today Wednesday, April 10, 2024, from 18:00- 20:00, at the CUT "Tassos Papadopoulos" Building (Hall 1), in Limassol.
The event aims to bring students in contact with technology and artificial intelligence and to present employment opportunities and career prospects in the technology sector.
The conference also aims to explore the potential of artificial intelligence and promote the New Technologies Group of CUT, while fostering collaboration between members of the student community, industry professionals and technology enthusiasts.
The speaker of the event will be one of the distinguished professors of Artificial Intelligence of our island, Dr. Savvas Hadjichristofi, Vice Rector of Research and Innovation of the University of Neapolis.
His research interests revolve around computational intelligence, robotics and robot vision. He has participated in a large number of European research projects with robotics as a main focus and has been awarded by international research committees.
He has given a number of lectures at conferences and as an invited guest in industry. In addition, he has participated as a keynote speaker in several workshops organised in schools to familiarise students with robotics technology.
In his presentation, Dr. Hadjichristofi will talk about recent trends in the industry and more specifically, how artificial intelligence will impact all areas of our lives in the coming years, including the fields of work, research and education.
The event will feature a panel discussion on "AI in practice" which will include: Dr. Savvas Hadjichristofi, Dr. Sotirios Hatzis, Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Information Technology of CUT, Dr. Angelos Voudis, Specialist at the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management of CUT.
Discussion topics will include practical applications of artificial intelligence, challenges, ethical issues and future perspectives.
A discussion and Q&A session will follow.
Participants will be given a certificate of attendance.
The conference, which is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, is open to all students, professionals and anyone who wants to learn about AI.
