Νέα-Ανακοινώσεις

On the 71st anniversary of the IAESTE program, IAESTE Cyprus, under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, proudly announces its role as the host of the 72nd IAESTE Annual Conference from 18-24 January 2019.  Held regularly since the organization was found in 1948, the IAESTE Annual Conference will attract over 275 delegates and representatives from over 80 member countries to Cyprus for seven consecutive days.  This occasion will mark the second time Cyprus has been honored to host the event (1991 Nicosia) and presents an excellent opportunity for global networking.  The IAESTE Cyprus Board is quite grateful to the Cyprus Tourism Organization and the Cyprus University of Technology, national administrators of the IAESTE Cyprus, for their unwavering support in its efforts to host the IAESTE 72nd Annual Conference, as well as the Bank of Cyprus for their Youth Support.

The IAESTE program aims to be the source for global talent to serve the growing needs of regional, national and international employers by helping students succeed in the global marketplace by affording them with opportunities to develop the skills, knowledge, and attitudes that will allow them to navigate in work environments that contend with globalization, outsourcing, and emerging technologies. The program pairs students with structured & paid work placements in science, engineering, and applied arts to help them meet the new demands placed upon them as they enter the globalized workforce.

Students benefit from the program by strengthening global skills such as foreign language proficiency, cross-cultural communication skills, and deepening their understanding of the global economy and international standards in addition to their discipline-specific expertise.

The National Committee for the Republic of Cyprus, “IAESTE Cyprus” was established in 1980 as a Full Member of the International Organisation of IAESTE A.sb.l. The National Secretariat of IAESTE Cyprus is administered by the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) as a non-profit organization.

The Republic of Cyprus joined IAESTE in 1980 through the Higher Technical Institute (HTI), a public tertiary educational institution established as a joint project between the Government of Cyprus and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

In 2011, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cyprus transferred the administration of the IAESTE Cyprus program to a newly founded academic institution, the Cyprus University of Technology, who registered IAESTE Cyprus as a non-profit organization with more than 15 Board Members, including all 8 Cypriot universities (University of Cyprus, Neapolis University Paphos, Frederick University, Open University of Cyprus, University of Nicosia, European University Cyprus, University of Central Lancashire - UCLan)  .

The IAESTE Cyprus Board has worked diligently, with the support of the Cyprus Tourism Organization and the Cyprus University of Technology, to host the 72nd Annual Conference in Limassol, Cyprus.  This marks the second time the Republic of Cyprus has been honored with hosting an IAESTE Annual Conference (1991 Nicosia).

IAESTE Cyprus is administered by the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT).
