The Members and the Dean of the School of Management and Economics of The Cyprus University of Technology wish to express their deepest sorrow for the untimely passing of a colleague and friend, Professor Ilias Visvikis. Professor Ilias Visvikis was an exceptional scientist with significant contribution to the field of shipping particularly in the areas of shipping finance and corporate risk management in shipping.

He leaves a very rich legacy of publications in the field. Professor Visvikis was a model teacher that could win over his audience with his knowledge and dedication that would inspire his students. Ilias Visvikis has been an exemplary family man and a great friend. My friend Ilia, your mark will be forever ingrained and the academics of shipping and finance, that you have so faithfully served, will honour you in the way that you deserve.
