Educational visit to the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation


An educational visit to the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation took place on Friday, March 9, 2018, as part of the course "European History and Media History". The educational visit was attended by undergraduate students of the Department of Communication and Internet Studies of the Cyprus University of Technology.

The program of the visit and the tour was organized by the Department of Public and International Relations of CyBC.

After a brief welcome and briefing of the students by the President of CyBC  Mr. Thanassis Tsokos and the CyBC General Manager, Michalis Maratheftis, for the role of public service broadcasting, was presented to the students a documentary film with the title "60 Years of Cyprus Television".

The next speaker was Mr. Panikos Hatzipanagi, News Director who developed the theme "Invest in talent: recruit the best and work with young people". The speaker emphasized in his contribution the significance of the journalism with particular reference to research journalism.

The last speaker was Ms. Phivia Savva, Head of the Archive, who pointed out that "The CyBC Archive is an integral part of the history of Cyprus".

Finally students visit the CyBC Museum and Television Department.
