Research associate in the Nursing Department of CUT during 2010-2012, participating in a randomized controlled trial (RCT) which aimed to investigate the effectiveness of relaxation techniques: “Progressive Muscle Relaxation” (PMR) and “Guided Imagery” (GI), concerning stress level reduction in patients with prostate cancer who undergo chemotherapy and are at home.
Rresearch associate in the Nursing Department of CUT during 2016-2018, participating in a European project of ERASMUS + ‘Apps4Cares’, which aimed to develop an application for caregivers of people with chronic illnesses.
Within the context of her doctoral dissertation (2010-2014), she conducted a RCT aiming to investigate the effectiveness of relaxation techniques: “Progressive Muscle Relaxation” (PMR) and “Guided Imagery” (GI), concerning stress level reduction in parents of children with malignancies who undergo treatment at the hospital.
In her first postgraduate degree “MSc Nursing” (1996-1997), she did a qualitative research, in order to study nurses’ knowledge concerning the term “evidence-based nursing practice”. In her second postgraduate degree “MA Healthcare Management” (2006-2010), it was based on a Pan-Cyprian quantitative research which studied the opinions and assessment of patients for the provided care at the four urban hospitals in Cyprus (Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaka, Paphos). The specific research was assigned and funded by the Ministry of Health for the Master’s Program of Study “Health Management” at the Open University of Cyprus.
Through her research activity, she covered the basic research methodologies (quantitative, qualitative research and controlled trial) which are used in Health Sciences. She participated in more than five (5) international conferences, where she presented parts of her research, which are registered in the conferences’ proceedings.
As an educator for the School of Nursing in Cyprus and as Special Teaching Staff at CUT, she have taught, supervised and assessed research studies of third-year and fourth-year students. As a member of the publishing committee of the scientific journal “Cyprus Nursing Chronicles”, she systematically assessed research projects for publication in the journal.
She is a member in the European Oncology Nursing Society (EONS). It is a pan-European membership organization for cancer nurses, the largest group of healthcare workers in the oncology workforce.
