The Student Development Center is under the Department of Studies and Student Welfare, it is housed in a specially designed space in the "Stoa Tassos Papadopoulos" building and provides the following services:
1.1 Counseling Center
- Individual psychological support for students
- Group therapy in college students
- Lectures/presentations/events open to students, the university community and the wider public
- Psychology book and article reading club (group meetings for reading and discussion)
- Art therapy
- Experiential workshops on mental health and personal development
- Adaptation and socialization programs for incoming students.
- Referrals to doctors
1.2 Center for Students with Disabilities
- Individual meetings to present medical certificates, medication prescriptions, reports of learning abilities.
- Family meetings
- Designing a personalized support/facilitation program for students with special needs and sending it to all the students' teachers, academic advisors, Department Chairs every semester. Monitoring the implementation of the facilities granted.
- Arrangements for providing tutoring support to students with special needs.
- Management of the specially equipped room to serve students with disabilities
- Systematic (every semester) monitoring of the progress of students who receive tutoring support and facilities, as well as evaluation of the partners who provide the tutoring.
- Management of applications for undergraduate positions in Special Categories that invoke medical problems
1.3 Learning Center
- Guidance on how to improve skills and how to study
- Psychometric evaluation aimed at evaluating the personal way of learning and understanding
- Pre-symptomatic evaluation of learning difficulties with a special questionnaire and with the aim of identifying symptoms in students and referring them for psychometric evaluation.
- Offering programs aimed at first-year students with the aim of adapting to the university, informing about student issues such as decision-making, initiative development, problem solving, goal achievement, organization and time management, academic success and diversity
- Arrangements to provide tutoring support to students with knowledge gaps and/or comprehension difficulties, a) in selected undergraduate courses with a high degree of difficulty, as shown by the systematically high failure rate (over 25%), b) For students who fail the same course for two or more times and are in their 5th or 6th year of study
- Academic encouragement. Individualized approach to students for guidance on improving skills and study style, through psychometric assessment aimed at assessing personal learning and understanding.
1.4 Substance Abuse Prevention Center
- Prevention of substance use and emphasis on its negative effects on students
- Individual and group meetings
- Diffusion of printed material
- Peer-to-peer groups
- cooperates with the Anti-Drug Council of Cyprus and other related bodies and organizations
